McGregor photograph album, ca. 1890-1899.

Photograph album with images of soldiers, women, and Apache women in southern Arizona. There are images of black soldiers at attention, officers and women picnicking, and women nurses. There are also dogs, children, and interiors and a view of the Fort Grant commanding officer's home. There are images of Apache women including scenes of basket weaving, an infant on a cradleboard with a white child nearby, and women lined up possibly to receive rations. There are also photographs showing men playing polo in the desert.

Army officer; Major Thomas McGregor served in the Indian Wars in Arizona, New Mexico, Idaho, Washington, Oregon and South Dakota. He was commanding officer at Fort Whipple in 1870; returned as commanding officer of Fort Bowie from 1890 to 1893, then was briefly assigned as commanding officer to Fort Grant from 1898 to 1900.
